As our first Christmas in Estremoz approaches, and because of Covid-19 it is under very strange circumstances, we are pleased to see that there will be some festive cellebrations still taking place.
One of these is the 14th Exhibition of Nativity Scenes (XIV Exposição de Presépios de Estremoz) that showcases works by local artisans and is open to the public at Galeria D. Dinis from December 5 2020.
This exhibition, which has already made a name for itself in Alentejo festivities, features more than thirty cribs and nativity scenes made using different materials by local artists. These include António Moreira, Carlos Alves, Catarina Grilo, Duarte Catela, Fátima Lopes, Innocent Lopes, Irmãs Flores, Isabel Pires , Jorge Carrapiço, Jorge da Conceição, José Carlos Rodrigues, Luís Parente, Madalena Bilro, Manuel Broa, Maria José Camões, Pedro Cravo, Perfeito Neves, Ricardo Fonseca, Sara Sapateiro, Sofia Luna, Susana Cunha and Vera Magalhães.
Open right through until January 9 next year, the display of traditional Portuguese handicraft can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday.
Organised by the Estremoz town hall in collaboration with the Prof. Joaquim Vermelho Municipal Museum, admission is free of charge.
